Touzla

The word Touzla is stemming from the turkish language and is related to salt. The beach of Ofrinio (greek: Paralia Ofryniou) consisted at the time of the name finding probably of salty fields, which were not very liked by the farmers. Today it is a popular Holiday destination in northern greece at the threshold between Chalkidiki and Greek Macedonia. The beach of Kavala, to which Touzla belongs, is sheer endless, stretches for about 20 km as gently sloping sandy beach. So you can always find a calm place. For those who prefer a livelier surrounding there is the part of the beach catered for by the local businesses. There you can enjoy the local food and beverages.

Macedonia, the home of Alexander the Great has a rich history, the testimonials of which can be admired still today. In the vicinity you can find excavations and the Lion of Amfipoli. The mountains of the region invite you  to hike. A visit to the lively city of Thessaloniki with its museums, street cafes, churches, restaurants and shops will be worth your while. A bit further away calls Chalkidiki, the "three fingers" with picturesque beaches, a scenic landscape and idyllic mountain villages as well as the -reserved for men- monk peninsula of Athos. A visit of the -further away- rock monastery Meteora is a must for every greece explorer.
